Workshop: Learn how to build a floating Bio Water Lantern! All materials provided as Ed guides you through the process of creating your own unique water lantern

Ed Janzen’s practice utilizes digital media, drawing performance, installation, and printmaking. He holds a BFA in Visual Art, and a Computer Science degree from the University of Windsor. His work has shown in galleries and experimental film festivals across Canada, as well as USA, Germany, Australia, and India.

June 20 Sarah McCullough (Soothing Balms & Salves)
Workshop: Delve into the alchemy involved in creating balms and salves your skin will embrace. Each participant will receive one of Sarah’s magical balms!


Sarah McCullough works with textiles, movement, plants, and tissue to re-create moments and note the connections they make. Her artistic education comprises a full and busy childhood learning many and diverse artistic forms in Windsor & Detroit. This past year has been devoted to dancing, costume design, and construction for HNM Dance Company’s 30th anniversary performance gala, and she is looking forward to bringing that experience into other creative efforts.
June 27 Pamela Cole (Watercolour Eco Prints)
Workshop: A hands-on watercolour eco- print workshop where you use plant materials and watercolour paints to create unique, nature-inspired greeting cards.

As Pamela gets older, she has created space for creative expansion—allowing art, music, painting, and writing to weave more fully into her life. She is a soprano in the Windsor Symphony Orchestra Choir, and she is obsessed with learning the quiet magic of watercolour. She also loves to play with words, exploring both fiction and non-fiction.

July 4 Matthew & Denise Romain (Puppet Construction & Manipulation)
Workshop: Matthew will entertain you with the comical manipulation of the marionette ostrich puppet he and Denise will help you build.

Matthew Romain, aka The Laughtertainer, is a musician and puppeteer. He has been building his puppet creations and performing since 1980. He teaches the art of puppetry to elementary, high school, and university students, and presents hands-on workshops for teachers, performing artists, and enthusiasts. As an elementary school teacher, loved by her students and respected by her peers, Denise inspired thousands of young minds for 31 years through creative and playful teaching practices. She loves to cook, is an avid reader, and is filled with wonder and delight when amidst nature. July 11 Ryan Janzen (Nature Electronica Sound Design) &
Laura Bolt (Rice Paper Origami)

Workshop: Laura will teach you how to create magic out of folding beautiful decorative papers, while Ryan invites you to make music working with the natural environment that will be incorporated into their Sunday live performance.

Laura Bolt is a multi-disciplinary artist with training as a classical musician, actor, and scientist. She currently performs as a flautist with several Toronto-based orchestras and works with a range of media as an artist. She is a former faculty member at OCAD University (Toronto, ON), and her painting “Moo Cow on Flower Mountain” is featured in the permanent collection of the Gay Lea Dairy Museum (Aylmer, ON).
Deep harmonic ambient sound + electronics, and interaction with the environment, are part of Ryan Janzen’s custom-designed concert experiences, where audiences are immersed in harmonic, ethereal soundscapes, linking the physical world, electronics, instruments, and Janzen’s voice and body.

July 18 Patricia Fell (Pelee Island Walnut Ink Calligraphy)
Workshop: Learn how to write Insular Majuscule script with ink made from Pelee Island walnuts! Each participant will receive a calligraphy pen and workbook to practice with, learning a skill that the 1st people sailing through this area used to write reports about it.


Patricia Fell received a Bachelor of Fine Arts (with distinction), Department of Theatre (Concordia University), and a Masters of Educational Psychology, specialization in design and integration (McGill University) both in Montréal, Québec. Patricia’s career as a professional artist for close to 40 years has embraced award winning design for the theatre, education, and the promotion of social injustice issues. Her extensive background in community based arts initiatives place her in an educated position from which to project a unique and achievable production outcome.
July 25 Allison Ware (Indigenous Species Bug Collage)
Workshop: BUG COLLAGE is created for participants to craft a native Pelee Island insect and walk away with a new appreciation for their chosen species! Participants will take time to carefully cut and paste paper, to outline the intricate details that each bug carries with them. They will pay attention to wings, legs, eyes, and all the other special parts that make up these creatures.

Allison Ware is a recent graduate from the University of Windsor’s School of Creative Arts with a BFA in Visual Arts. Allison is an interdisciplinary artist who translates observation and lived experience into visual communication. Using painting, drawing, projection, photography, and conversation, her work explores endangered species, vulnerable landscapes, and ecological connection, informed by her lived experience along the north shore of Lake Erie within the Carolinian Forest region.

August 1 Sarah McCullough (Painting Silk)
Workshop: Sarah will show you how to paint a silk using the resist method to create a stained glass effect on a scarf you may take home with you.

August 8 Lisa Sylvestre (Plant Stamped Embroidery)
Workshop: Lisa will teach you how to create a traditional stamped kerchief using natural floral materials then embellish it with hand stitched embroidery.




Lisa Sylvestre is a Windsor, Ontario based textile artist. Quilt making is her primary medium and her practice focuses on the use of reclaimed fabrics, plant-based dyes, and hand stitching. Her work is informed by the distinct contrast in rich natural beauty to stark industrial landscape that is characteristic of the Windsor Detroit region. Under asil, Lisa runs a textile and a plant-based dye studio which offer a wide range of classes and workshops, and a small shop which celebrates the work of local artists.
August 15 Lorraine Steele (Plaster Casting)
Workshop: Experiment making bas-relief plaster sculpture with the guidance of Lorraine.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1952, Lorraine Steele emigrated with her family to Canada, settling in Windsor, Ontario in 1956. A graduate of the University of Windsor ( BA Visual Arts 1981 ) Lorraine has been a working visual artist for more than forty years. Primarily a painter, her artwork exploration has also included theatre set design, jewelry design and fine art curation. Today she is still creating and producing art for commercial spaces and private residences.

August 22 Teajai Travis (Soundbath Meditation)
Workshop: Sound Meditation: Journaling with Joy and Purpose is an invitation to mindfully absorb the natural soundscape of the island with the accompaniment of the sacred singing bowl. Participants will be gently guided through a gratitude meditation and journaling session.


Teajai Travis an adventurer and spiritualist inspired by his self-liberated ancestors who journeyed the Underground Railroad. Guided by their courage, he uses art as an instrument of service—bridging community outreach and social justice through storytelling, spoken word, and meditation.
August 29 Rob Tymstra (Pelee Scenes Lino-Cut Postcards)
Workshop: Create your own postcard using mono-print technology while understanding the principles of lino-cutting as a design form.


Rob Tymstra is a keen naturalist and artist who roams the planet in search of biological thrills. He enjoys dabbling in all kinds of arts from watercolor and oil painting to copperwork and cinematography. Rob’s love for wild things led him to the natural paradise that is Pelee Island where he now lives there in an off-grid home.
